The Basics of Domino

The game of dominoes is a family of tile-based games. The tiles are rectangular in shape and have two square ends, each marked with a number of spots. The game is played by arranging and matching these tiles to create the best stack. As you progress through the game, you will gain points and experience new strategies.

Origins

The Origins of Domino comic book series is a fascinating look into the origins of a superhuman with extraordinary powers. Domino was developed as a by-product of a government experiment to create super soldiers. After the government experiment was unsuccessful, they left Domino at a priest’s house in Chicago, where he eventually grew up to become a powerful super hero. Since its origin, this comic has become immensely popular across the world.

Rules

When playing the game of domino, players lay tiles on the open ends of the domino set. If they have a tile with a pips value that matches their opponent’s number, they win. If no one can add a tile, then play ends. A player wins when all of his or her pips are equal to five.

Variations

There are many variants of domino. The basic version is played by two players. They select seven tiles from a double-six set of 28 tiles. Players then extend their lines of play by picking up tiles. The player with the highest score wins the hand. If a double occurs, the player with the highest score takes the first turn, and if they have less tiles, the player with fewer tiles draws.

Sizes

There are many different sizes of dominoes available on the market. Generally, they are held in landscape or portrait orientation and are approximately one to two inches tall. Jumbos and tournament sizes are slightly smaller. There are also many accessories available to help you with your domino building needs.

Spinners

Spinners are a very useful part of a domino set. They serve many different purposes. You can use them to switch the direction of a run, add more runs to one side, or even maintain a current run. These handy tools are a necessity for any domino player.

Pip Pirrip’s reference to dominoes in Charles Dicken’s “Great Expectations”

Pip Pirrip’s name translates as “spot.” Although he is not known for having a dominoes-themed name, he has other uses as well, including referring to spots on playing cards and dice. For example, the four of spades has four pips. Moreover, pips are also used to refer to the small seeds in some fruits.
